JEN Conference Dallas – Jan ’22

I have been invited for a research presentation at the American Jazz Educators Network (JEN) annual conference in early January in Dallas. The conference offers four days of non-stop performances by leading artists, clinics and research sessions. In my presentation titled ‘Vocal Improvisation: a vocal approach’, I discuss that instrumental jazz often serves as a starting point for improvising singers, causing an array of unique vocal elements to be overlooked.

Update: Unfortunately I had to cancel this presentation because of the Covid situation. My research about a more vocal approach to vocal improvisation will be presented at another moment. The voice is a fantastic and unique instrument that deserves its own approach and artistic concept also in the field of improvisation!
